Hey guys! Built a pc recently, had a lot of ISP related network problems but that's all fixed now.
My connection is wireless via a Realtek 8188E PCI-E WiFi adapter and I'm running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.
I've determined this problem doesn't have anything to do with connection strength or anything like that, my laptop in the same room, same AP etc. works fine.
System restore and factory restore unfortunately are no options for me, I don't have any restore points prior to when this problem started occurring and backing up all my files would be way too much of a hassle because my files take up alot of space.
So I've concluded it has something to do with the settings, software or hardware on my PC, I have no idea what the problem actually is, I've tried many things like:
-turning router off and back on
-restarting the PC
-flushing the DNS
-using the network diagnostics built in in Win 7
-Switching from DHCP to Static back to DHCP
-Turning off ipv6
-Reinstalling adapter drivers
- disabling adapter and reenabling it
* EDIT -Tried to connect with an external Wi-Fi adapter, same issues
Pinging to the router works fine on all of my other devices but not on my PC. When I try to ping the router it says "Transmit failed: general failure".
Device manager says the adapter is working fine so I suppose that couldnt be the problem either
I don't want to wire my PC to the router, all the LAN ports on the router are filled up and installing the cable and all would be too much of a hassle.
When I try to google anything by putting random letters in the address bar on Google Chrome, for some reason it starts loading a https://google.com, I don't know why or if this is normal or not, but I can't remember it loaded up a https:.// before the problem. After trying to load the url for a while chrome gives up and gives me the error "ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED".
I am absolutely desperate! This probem has caused me alot of trouble and I'm on the verge of literally losing my mind, I'm already beginning to hear voices in my head. PLEASE HELP!
