me and my friend want to play on minecraft survival TOGETHER we are on two different networks as we live in different houses. he uses wifi and i use ethernet. we can both connect to different servers like vikk craft but when i make a server, i can join but he cant.
were on minecraft 1.8.9. how can we easily play together. weve both watched loads of youtube tutorials and articles about problems and how to solve them but non work.

we have been trying for almost 2 days now...

You need to port-forward the server so router firewall won't block it for security reasons. If for some you don't want to do that (but you should want to port forward it) you can use a VPN like hamatchi (a lot of tutorials about that).
