I am interested in buying a gaming PC. I already know which gaming PC I want to buy. It's a Dell XPS x8900-2506BLK Desktop (6th Generaton Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD) NVIDIA GTX 745. The problem: I have an old mac laptop which can no longer run the games I want and I do not want to buy a monitor for the gaming PC. Is there some way I can connect the gaming PC to my old mac and use the mac as a monitor for the gaming PC rather than buying a new monitor all together.

This video should show you what you need to know. Note that both systems need to be on the same network, a small bit of software will need to be downloaded to both systems, and there's the possibility for a small bit of input lag. If you can handle all that then you should be good to go!

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Figured I'd also suggest that you get this PC from Newegg since they seem to have an option to let you select a handful of the parts that go into it. I'd swap that 745 out for a 960. Also, as I'm sure you are aware, you're overpaying by buying this machine instead of having a custom build done by you/someone you know.

Thanks for your help. I realized I made a mistake in explaining my problem. I want to buy gaming desktop which lacks has no monitor included in its system. Is there some way I can use my mac as the monitor for a gaming desktop rather than having to buy a TV monitor from Dell.

I'm pretty sure that any video ports on your Mac are going to be "out" ports instead of "in". So I don't believe there is a way to do so. I did some research and couldn't find any. Sorry :(
