Grounding yourself static electricity

Solution
Touch anything that is grounded: A heating radiator, any electrical appliance with a ground wire and a metal casing, even a solid masonry wall (brick, concrete or stone) or a water pipe.
TBH, static is an overrated issue, just don't work on a PC (or any other piece of microelectronics) on a nylon carpet while wearing wool socks (or vice versa) and you'll be fine.

Water pipes are painted, will that be a problem?
