Screen goes black after password entry

I have a dell laptop not sure which but something happened to my google chrome so I refreshed my laptop like it said to and everything was ok until it froze when it said " almost ready " and so I had to turn my laptop off I know it said don't do that but I had to ! So I restarted my laptop and now everytime it loads it loads ok but when I put in my password it goes straight to a black screen , then a little box comes up saying loading personal stuff then disappears. I have been sitting here starring at a black screen for about an hour and nothing has changed . Ive read a bunch of stuff on what to do like press F8 , Didn't work . F10 didn't work . I'm lost right now and I don't know what to do .

Probably your windows installation is corrupted. Try system restore, maybe that will do the trick. If not, you will have to use windows cd to do windows repair. After successful boot, I recommend scanning for viruses with Malwarebytes as well.
