First here's my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7cJrZL

My NZXT S340 Blue/Black case came with two fans, one at the top and one at the rear , both exhaust. I bought two of the Corsair SP120 57.2 CFM 120mm fans. The thing is, they are 3-pin fans and my board has one 3-pin connector and two 4-pin connectors. So I plugged one of them into the 3-pin and I tried using the dual 4-pin to Molex splitter adapter that came with my board.

When I tried to plug in one of the Corsair SP120 fans into a 3-pin to molex, and then that molex to the dual 4-pin to molex adapter, the fan didn't work. It appeared like it should have cause the cables matched up right, but just didn't work at all when I plugged it into the motherboard.

Can this work or am i not doing this right?

Motherboard -> 4-pin splitter to molex -> molex to 3-pin -> Corsair SP120???

Solution
You can plug a 3 pin fan into the 4 pin connector on the mother board.

th

Don't use the splitter because you could be overloading the connector.
