So awhile back I posted on here about a problem with using my old raid 0 drives when I purchased new SSD drives... came to find out I couldnt use the SSD's in raid mode on my motherboard, so I had to disconnect the old raid drives and just used SSD in AHCI mode.

So anyway I never wiped those drives simply disconnected them from the PC... But I found out I forgot to backup one important file that has my work on it. So i tried just disconnecting the two SSDs and putting both the HD's that were on the old raid back in, changed my BIOS mode back to Raid legacy Rom... On boot up it said "Logical Drive 2" was functional which meant both drives were being found.

Although the problem came when it would not boot windows (which was installed on this Raid)... Luckily I had an install of windows 10 on one of the other Storage drives in the PC... So i booted into that... It found one of the hard drives on the Raid but not the other (prompted me to format the drive when I clicked on it)... So question is my raid controller in dos said the Raid was functional... I also went into the program to check the Raid status and it looked okay and normal.

I also tried windows repair, by adding the raid controller in that prompt but did not find the windows install on the raid.

So im wondering if I reconnect both raid drives, is there some software or any ideas how I can access the data on those again. Right now I seem to be having trouble doing so.

I am not very familiar with raid, but I would assume by simply disconnecting the 2 HDD's that held the raid would not break it... Or maybe I need to try a different cable configuration on them?

Hey Guys good news, I did a little research and found out about "Testdisk" it is free... Luckily this program found my partitions on the raid... despite windows not recognizing my old raid partitions I was able to find the file I needed to save and backup... So glad as this saved me a lot of time with my work. Still not sure though why windows had issues seeing the old raid partition.
