Hi!

I recently built my own system based on the ASUS Z170i Pro Gaming m-ITX motherboard. The specs are the following:

ASUS Z170i Pro Gaming (1 PCI-E x16 slot)
Intel Core i5 6600k
16GB DDR4 @ 2400mhz
EVGA Geforce GTX 980Ti ACX 2.0+ SC+
650w PSU 80+ GOLD
Samsung 250GB SSD 850 PRO
Windows 10 Pro (new installation)

When everything was put together I started it up and it was running flawless. I started up my monitor applications to try the system out and got a bit of a surprise. The graphics card was only running at PCI-E x2, not x16 as it should, same data in both GPU-Z, HWiNFO and AIDA. See picture below:

(the picture contains some of my old hardware but I got the same results with the new one)

So I tried to switch the graphics card out to my old one, an Radeon 5850, started up, same results. Still running at x2 when it should run at x16. Even trough different stresstests.

Switched back to the new card, GTX 980 Ti, and tried some benchmarking just to see if it still worked at all. SUPRISE! Both PC-Mark and Unigine Heaven gave me the numbers I should have running an GTX 980 Ti.

I have also updated the ASUS UEFI (0701) and tried out various settings. Also, the UEFI gives me the informations that the graphics card is running at x2 native and even do the card should have its own UEFI it do not seem to load. I can´t see the specs of the graphics card within the ASUS UEFI.

So. What can be wrong here? Any ides?

SOLVED:
A bent pin on the CPU Socket was causing the trouble. Bent it back, now it works!

No, nothing else. I got one SATA SSD and one SATA 1TB HDD. Rest is just onboard devices.

Was just about to give ASUS teck support an email when i decided to do a check on the CPU. And there it was. One small pin at the CPU Sockel was bent. I bent it back and now it works!
