HP p6 2060a desktop, i have upgraded the ram to 8gb, what gpu can i get now without having to upgrade the 300w psu?

the NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 2gb is cheap enough, but doesnt seem to be much of an upgrade, i need to keep the costs down, but maximise gaming as much as i can, i play Star Wars The Old Republic MMO only. monitor max resolution is 1920x1080

specs:
Motherboard:IPISB-CU (Carmel2) lga1155 H61
Processor:Intel Core i5 2310 (quad)
Memory:8 GB DDR3 1333
Video graphics:NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 (1gb)
Hard drive:1 TB SATA
Power Supply:Internal 300W (100V-240V).

Solution

no, pcie 3.0 is backwards compatible

I recommend you update the bios to the newest version available to make sure there are no issues

just for your information, i found out that since this mobo is EOL, the last bios update they have provided will only support gtx 6-- cards but nothing later, something about UEFI incompatibility. the 7.16a bios revision doesnt cover this and there is no 8.-- bios update to be found.

apparrently evga will flash their gpu's for you if you send it to them or if you can find a 2nd pc with a similar "ready"mobo you can flash your gpu yourself to place in your own pc.
