I really like the Intel NUCs. I have an old version one now for my HTPC. I want to replace my desktop PC with one. I see there's the new NUC6i5SYH using Skylark, and then there's the previous NUC5i7RYH, which has an i7 processor. I will not be playing highly video intensive games. I will be doing light video editing and encoding. Otherwise, I am simply looking for speedy all-around performance. I tend to have a TON of browser tabs open at the same time, and such (I know that's more RAM, but just saying). So, which one of these is going to be faster? Thanks much in advance.

The NUC6 i5 is only just being released now so not much info on it yet. However, they compare and benchmark the NUC6 i3 to the NUC5 i5 & i7 to give you a bit of an idea how they perform.

I know the new model uses DDR4. That may also play into which one will be faster, though some reviews (albeit a little dated) seem to give a "not yet worth it" kind of reply on DDR4. I don't mind paying a little more if it's really going to give me a performance benefit, but on the other hand, I don't want to waste money if it's not really going to help (based on that part anyway).
