Hello, I am planning to upgrade my h81 mobo into something sli capable, My current CPU is Xeon E3 - 1220v3.
My choices are:

I7 4820k + Asrock X79 extreme3 mobo
Or I7 4790 non k + MSI Z97-G45 gaming

Reason I am contemplating those two, is the fact, that I buy all my components used and the price on those is exactly the same for me and that is around 300 dollars (when converted from my currency, which is Czech crowns). A 4770k/4790k would be significantly more expensive(about 50 usd).
The PC will be used for gaming, some video editing, coding and fooling around in Unreal 4 engine.
Which is a better choice for those tasks? I am slightly biased towards the x79 platform, since its upgradable to 6 core i7.
I will be overclocking with my Noctua NH-D14.

There is one more possibility and that is I7 5820k with Gigabyte X99 UD4, but when i factor in more expensive rams, this is almost twice the price of previous two.

Thank you dor your opinions and advices.

At stock, both CPUs should be almost equally fast, but the i7-4820K has a bit more cache, quad channel DDR3 and, more important, 40 PCI-Ex lanes which will help with your SLI setup.

So i say, take the 4820K.

Interesting I actually thought, that stock 4790 would be faster, plus it has a slightly btter ipc (haswell vs ivy), but if it is not the case, then i t seems pretty straightforward, thank you.
