a while ago i upgraded my shitty dell inspiron 580s. its a slim so i was very limited on everything i bought. i got a 400w power supply then got a new graphics card amd r5 200 series. i guess when installing these i bumped around the heat sink and the thermal paste was creating the problem i had which was overheating. i thought it was just because i added more stuff so itd need better cooling so i bought 3 fans. installed them and nothing. i modified my case for better airflow. still nothing then i bought thermal compound. applied that and it worked. my temp stays around 40c no matter what i'm doing. even gaming. at idle its 20c. but my gaming experience or whatever really isn't all that good. i still gotta run games on the lowest settings. the question i'm asking is WHAT ELSE can i do to get more performance. i'm pretty sure the only thing left is a processor upgrade. if so what processor is compatible for my pc. around $60. the processor i have now is a intel pentium r G6950 @ 2.80ghz.i also have 4.00gb ram 3.80 usable.any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
Get a different computer.
Your processor is super low end, not meant for gaming.
Your GPU is also super low end, and also not really meant for gaming.
Your RAM is a bit on the short side but would be fine-ish if you had other better parts.

There's no saving what you have, as it's all bad for a gaming computer.

If you still want to try and upgrade your computer, the best you can do CPU wise is a i5-670 off ebay:

GPU wise the best you could do (and really should have done) is a gtx 750ti low profile: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n750ti2gd5tlp
Upgrading that for gaming is not really feasible, CPU socket is old and your R5 2xx GPU is not really good for gaming so low settings is expected. You can look for a used I5 CPU for the lga1156 socket and get some improvement but you will be GPU limited.

Yes! You can use I5 6xx or I5 7xx or I7 8xx series CPU's.
