So I've recently decided to i want to upgrade to an i7 4790K but with me not being the most knowledgable in this sort of stuff i have recently found out my motherboard only supports AMD CPU.

So i was wondering what would be a good replacement and would work fine with my GPU?

GPU: R9 Fury X 4GB
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 SKT-AM3+
PSU: 750W

Oh and will i need to back everything up prior to changing? As well as need a new windows code?

Thanks for any help guys

Really anything that's not super old will work with that gpu so whatever you get should work okay.
You can get any motherboard that says the socket is LGA 1150, but if you plan on overclocking, then you will need a motherboard with a chipset z97.
Definitely do a backup before you switch. You don't have to get a new code, some would recommend it, but since you are swapping the motherboard you will probably have to do a clean install of Windows. If you can't activate it with the code you have, then you can call Microsoft and tell them the hardware change you made and they will activate it for you.
Here is a cheap one with the z97 chipset...
