GPU what factors to consider when buying one?

Solution
@Rayne, it looks like EVGA b-stock site is about to add a GTX 970 to their site for the first time in 3 weeks: http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=8&family=GeForce+900+Series+Family&chipset=GTX+970 (listing is currently empty, but it's the fact that the listing is up, that's the sign to me). If the price is US$239, as it was in the past, then I'm guessing it'll be a reasonable deal even with the conversation to CAD money. EVGA b-stock cards are factory refurbished cards, directly from EVGA. The only question is whether they will deliver it to Canada and what they'll charge to do so. EVGA support: (888) 880-3842

You can call EVGA to ask them about the cost to ship EVGA b-stock cards to Canada. I suspect they'll have...
390 or 390X; I've got an MSI R9 390X LE in my travel rig with an i5 4440 and it performs phenomenally in games, I got it for $350 with a rebate a couple of months ago. A 390 non x will be almost as good and you can get it for $305 on Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150729&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=.

@Rayne, okay, I just called EVGA on your behalf. It was just quicker for me to use my premiere support, since I have a bunch of product serial numbers already registered with them. They do indeed ship b-stock products to Canada, or anywhere within the North America, as long as it's not to a PO box. The technician did not know the cost, so you'll have to check that out once you are in the process of ordering it; if you care to go that route.

@Rayne, the EVGA b-stock GTX 970 is available now! It's US$249.99, as it's a different version than previously available. It's the EVGA GTX 970 SC Gaming card, which is their custom reference cooler card. I happen to have a reference cooler card, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I suggest that you add it to cart in preparation of purchasing, so that you can see how much the shipping would cost. Then you can make an educated decision about whether this card is for you. If you don't like this particular version of the card, then you can wait it out and see what they offer next. They change versions of their cards all the time.
