struggling to get my display working on my monitor having just fit my gtx 970. I had to fit a new PSU (evga) and i think i've wired it up correct - obviously haven't.

Read this and the second post confuses me a little.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2534834/gtx-970-requires-pin-pin.html

I have the 6 pin and 8 pin slot which i've connected directly to my PSU but i don't see any other places where i could connect the GPU to anything.

i have a pci - e1 slot on my mobo near to my GPU but prior to the gtx going in it wasn't being used so wonder if that's the issue.

Also, i'm meant to use pci cables but i only have VGA i think, not sure if the're one and the same.

Turned PC on and it seems like it's firing up and the LED lights on the GPU are on.

Appreciate any help

Not sure what the x16 slot is. though there is a couple of rows below i could put it in, again i don't really know what significance that will have. Can't see x16 on the mobo when i study it

that was the problem. My monitor cable went into my mobo from the back previously. Had to put an adaptor on my monitor cable for it to fit into the GPU. Seems to be working albeit my resultion is ridiculous. presumably i need to sort drivers. thanks
