Powerline adapter damaging hardware?

I have been using netgear powerline adapters for a very long time for various devices such as my pc, my Wii U paired with an Ethernet adapter because the Wii u has no Ethernet ports, and my ps4. I for some reason have always been fearful of them damaging my hardware though because the whole concept of my internet running through my power lines seems very odd to me. I always worry about it shorting my pc out or something along the lines. For example my Ethernet adapter plugged into the wii u gets when in use is that normal? If someone can explain the dangers if any of using these products it will ease my worry greatly.
Thank you

As with any device, some off brand piece o junk may not work well, or kill something.
For a powerline adapter, you do NOT want to plug it into a powerstrip or other adapter.
Direct to the wall.

So far I know, it's perfectly safe. I'm afraid I dont kow how exactly works, but just asked about PLCs one friend this week and he sent me a photo of his installation with everything pluuged into a PLC. As my friend work with computer and net installations, I decided to trust him.

Still, let's hope someone can provide you any deeper information.

You plug your PC and Wii into the wall, right? There is some sort of power adapter thing, right? And your system doesn't blow up?

If using powerline devices were a major cause of shorting out systems, there would have been several hundred thousand complaints by now.

They are fine, generally. Just don't buy offbrand ones.
