So, I was having issues with the monitors just falling asleep when playing games and I have replaced EVERY other component in my system, so thats all ruled out. Under no load, it idles at 54 Celsius. The card is a gtx 970. Does that seem to high for idle temps? It seems way to high to me and I have already opened an RMA. What do you guys think? It goes into 90s celcius mark when the crashes

Solution
The fans on the ACX cooler are "0dB" fans and will not even turn on until the temperature hits about 60c. Higher idle temperatures are to be expected, as designed. Then your card has a factory preset temperature target, called the Temp Limit, which is set at 80c. Your card will target this temperature and attempt to maintain that while gaming by increasing and decreasing Turbo Boost clocks accordingly.

You should expect a wide range of idle temperatures, anything from 35-50c, depending on your case setup and room temperature. Internet browsing and light graphics will have an impact as well. While gaming, you should never go above 82c, and more likely maximum 80c and/or well below.

RMA your card and put EVGA's highly regarded...

I have the EVGA model with 2 ACX fans. I am just going to RMA it. I had the same card in a system I gave to someone and the temperatures NEVER got that high. Its a full size case and the CPU is liquid cooled

What do you mean speeds? Fans? They are at full blast. Usually it stays at 76 Celsius, then suddenly it moves up into 90s
