Help me choose between these two 980 ti's

We are talking about GTX 980Tis in both cases so expect a similar performance, but the MSI will give a higher performance, only gigabyte chip which can go blow for blow with the MSI Gaming 6G is the Gigabyte G1 Gaming, and it is not worth the money. So end point is go for the one you like, but MSI is slightly better, however you can expect the MSI to run 3-5 degrees hotter (at least in theory and benchmarking).

They'll both give pretty much the same performance. The Gigabyte one comes with a better overclock out of the box, though. Personally I'd go with MSI because I find them the better brand.

Why not buy the ASUS gtx 980 TI Strix OC version.

You should look on the charts instead of asking ppl about wich brand is best. Some like Asus, some MSI etc. You will never get an objectiv statement unless you can provide data charts.
