So a while ago my computer stopped working and I've been trying to fix it ever since, I've been reading on some threads that it might be the psu or the motherboard. So I go buy a new psu and plug everything back in and it still won't turn on, so I decide to buy a new motherboard and try that. I buy a new one and that still doesn't solve the problem, so I decide to unplug everything and start to plug in one thing at a time to find the problem and I come to realize that if I don't plug in my cpu power the motherboard and everything else turns on and when I connect the cpu power back nothing works, does this mean that the cpu is the problem?

Solution

sorry to say mate but its dead, i broke my i7 4790 and i had the same issue as you, it wouldn't boot at all, got a new cpu and wallah it was working, that cpu isnt too expensive so pick yourself a new one up.

you're welcome buddy

no boot means broken cpu or psu
boot with black screen means either broken cpu or board.
