Hey guys, I got quite old WD external hard drive, it was working fine till last week.
I tried to plug the power cable but its not turned on. Then i tried to just plug the power cord just half way through the external power hole there and put some pressure with my hand sideways and the external LED finally comes up but the power is still not on/ pc not recognize the HD.

I believe the HD is still ok, and problem lies with the power plug, how should i fix this? Will tearing apart the external case and plug it like internal HD would work?

Hey there, Melodyazzz.

Sorry to hear about the problem you're having with your drive. :(

There are people who would suggest taking the drive out of its enclosure, but this is not recommended. You might damage the drive in the process and if the HDD has firmware encryption, you won't be able to access your data without its original enclosure as it will be encrypted.
I'd recommend that you find a local computer service shop and see if the guys there can be of any help. It might be a cable problem of some sort.

Please let me know how it goes.
