Hi, I am looking at getting a simple NAS instead of my current "server" (old pc with all of my hdds plugged in) I am looking to spend a relatively small amount of money ($150) but cheaper is better. My main uses for it will be Plex (I dont know if it would run on NAS or not) as well as general storage for large game files, videos and music (couldnt care less about backup). Does anybody have any suggestions as to good models to look at?

I have
2TB Seagate Barracuda
2TB WD Red
Possibly 500GB WD Green

and a full gigabit network

PS Expandability would be great but not required

Thanks for your help

Solution
a normal unpopulated nas box would help, but you have no options for redundancy with oddball drives, and expansion is difficult i.e. adding new drives, drobo overcomes this, that's why there is the price.
why change? you lose expandability, flexibility, maintainability and it costs you $150.

If you are thinking about the power costs, lets says your system runs at 100W, and the NAS 50W, so that's 50W less per hour, so in 20hrs you save 1 unit of electricity (approx $0.15), that'll be 2.25 years until it's cost you that $150 in extra electricity. in reality at idle 100W is high, probably more like 65W, so that'll be 7 years...

Couldnt care less about power costs either, Im going to college and very likely wont have space for another PC (besides my gamer). I already tried to fit all of my hdds in my case but the motherboard wont support enough of them (only 4 SATA slots)
