Connect your monitor to the motherboard then turn the computer on.
While booting when your motherboard logo shows up you will have to hit the key specified on the bottom of the screen.
Usually it is del or maybe F8 but varies from motherboard maker to maker.
In there you should be able to see many menus and option try searching for something related to display
On my mobo it is 'Init Display First' under 'Peripherals'. Make sure it is set to auto or PCI .
After that save the settings and exit from bios. Reboot with your cable connected to the gpu.
If this doesnt work try switching the cable.
