I finished assambling my first pc today, it turns on, but nothing appears on screen.I plugged my screen through my motherboard and not my graphics card, because my screen is vga only, do you think it has something to do with that?

Solution

Your motherboard shouldn't be connected to your monitor. Its going to either use integrated graphics (if any) or something really.. really stupid. I've never tested it so I don't know.

HOWEVER, there's a solution to this.
The likelihood is that your GFX card uses a DVI input (this is the input used for a lot of newer cards, like the GTX960.)
There is a cheap adapter that you can buy online for about $5 (plus shipping) , and its basically going to turn your DVI input into a VGA input so its compatible...

Older monitors are likely not to have a DVI input, so a lot of GPU companies usually give you an adapter in advance to prevent hassle. (unless they're rude about it.)

VGA has been around for awhile. DVI is still kinda new to the market, so this is a common issue.

Here's the link to the Adapter

I hope I helped :)
