my hdd just came in the mail finally, i already have windows and such on my ssd, now to use the hdd as storage, do i have to install windows on it or something? i cant see it in My Computer

Solution

No, you do NOT install the OS on that drive as well.

"i cant see it in My Computer"

Go into Disk Management
In the bottom portion of the screen, Right click on that drive.
What options does it give you?
Maybe..."New Simple Volume"
Do that
Give it a drive letter.

After it is seen in File Explorer, you are good.

How to effectively use that drive? See this:
Win 7 & 8: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html
Win 8.1 & 10: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2024314/windows-redirecting-folders-drives.html
