Installed new CPU and now pc keeps freezing

I just got my new amd fx-9590 CPU and after doing some research I found that it was compatible with my current mobo and everything so I ordered it. After installing it and booting into Windows after checking the bios settings it somehow freezes while doing nothing. Just after a couple of minutes it just freezes everything. Nothing is responsive and Windows is completely frozen but it still boots up fine?

When I checked the CPU tempreture in the bios and on safe mode (which was fine) it was hanging around the 50-60c mark which I know is worrying on idle but I believed my cooler could handle it.

The other weird thing is that everything is fine in safe mode. I can use it without issue but then going to normal Windows GUI it freezes.

Any help would be appreciated!

Would I just have to get a new cooling unit?

Specs:
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth fx990 r2.0
CPU (New): Amd fx-9590
CPU(Old with failing hyper threading): AMD fx-8520
Cooler: cooler master seidon 120v
PSU: Corsair cx 750m
Graphics card: MSI R9 280X

(Side note: The old CPU's hyper threading was starting to fail but still worked ok.)

I think you mean Hyper Transport, Intel uses Hyper Threading to emulate more cores. Is the motherboard using the right BIOS for that 220w TDP chip. Do you have a good air flow thru the case? That CPU can be a pain to get working properly I think I would have waited and got a ZEN cpu that is coming out this year from AMD.

The motherboard is using the correct BIOS, that was the first thing I was worried about. I also just cleaned the case out to ensure better air flows. I can understand if it's a pain to get working but I'm worried about have to nearly re-build a PC from scratch just to get the thing working. Might it be a good idea to buy a new fx8320 and send the 9590 back?

Since you already installed it I don't know if you can return it. If you could I would say do it, other wise your cooling solution may not be enough for this CPU 60 degrees seems pretty dangerous to me. You sure the CPU has been seated perfectly and you have the right amount of thermal paste on the water block and it is making good contact with the CPU?
