Ok, so here is my situation. I like to run a certain MMORPG overnight, but my hard drive is very annoying, its kinda rattles and hums, and i would rather not listen to it while i sleep. I have a 128GB flash drive and it occurred to me that i might be able to install my OS (windows 8.1 64 bit) and the game on my flash drive and boot the PC up from there, that way my hard drive could turn off and i could use the silent USB drive. Is this possible? Im more of a hardware guy than a software guy, so i could really use some help. Thank you. :)

Your system seems to be all wrong.

You have a 128GB SSD
But the OS is not on it, but on the HDD?
Your GTA is on the SSD?
And you want to install the OS on the USB flash drive?
In an effort to make it quieter?

Just....no.

Completely redo the system:
OS on the SSD
Your MMORPG on the SSD
GTA V on the HDD

Silence achieved (mostly)

Short answer:
No. Windows does not like to be installed on an external drive.

Long answer:
No. But yes, after a LOT of effort you could probably make it work booting off that slow flash drive. But it will be dirt slow.
Easier, much faster solution - Buy an SSD and install the OS and your game on that. $60, done.
Noise problem averted.

I actually have an SSD :) BUT, i have GTA V on it and it is only a 128GB, so i have 47 GB left on it. How much space do i need for the OS? The game i would need is about 8GB leaving me with 40GB left, is that enough?
