I am currently running an i5 4690, H97 PC Mate, a GTX 960, RM650 Corsair PSU, etc., with a 500 gb Caviar Blue HD. I want to upgrade up to a terrabyte of space but I don't know how to go about doing this without having to wipe my old Hard Drive. Is it possible to add another 500 gb Hard Drive to my current?

Solution
Your PC can manage several storage devices and most hard drive manufacturers provide access to software to migrate your current drive data and format onto a new drive.

Once migrated, the software will have you shut down - then replace the old drive physically with the new drive and you will now be booting and operating on the new drive.

A few suggestions to consider. having a SSD for your boot drive will dramatically improve your performance. If you don't want to do this - the Hybrid drives also seem to do a nice job.

This was your question, Is it possible to add another 500 gb Hard Drive to my current?

The most generic answer possible would have been, Yes.

The original answer was both correct, succinct and more than you asked.

"Why would I need to format a new hard drive?"
You might want to select the type of file system you are using. for example, FAT or NTFS.
