Hi, yesterday I finally got my Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 in the mail and promptly hooked it up. Well when i bought the card i didnt realize that it had only a HDMI, DVI, and DP port on it, no VGA which my old card had, and i had been using a DVI for one screen and a VGA for the other. Well today i went out and got a HDMI to VGA adapter from walmart, it's a GE brand. Well after hooking up the HDMI-VGA adapter my main screen went black and would not come on unless i restarted and my second screen didnt come on at all. Well after a restart with having both plugged in it seemed to start working, but while my Windows 10 was loading up i could see my mouse and move it across both screens, if awkwardly because it had the two screens switched. well when it looked like it was about to go to the login screen both screens blacked and showed no signal. I have an Envision G918w1 and a dell monitor that im not sure which model it is. After the failed reboot. i'm completely stumped.

EDIT: Neither of my monitors can use HDMI, they can only use DVI or VGA

Can you use a single monitor via DVI initially? Sounds like a driver issue - once you get the updated drivers installed for the GPU & your monitor, I would suspect you would be ok (especially because both screens were 'active' during BIOS & install).

UPDATE: I have tried uninstalling the drivers for the card, updating the BIOS of the mobo, running the hdmi-vga first then plugging in the dvi. and still nothing has worked. Though after uninstalling the drivers and rebooting with both plugged in it does seem to stay at least to the desktop if im quick enough
