Gigabyte G1 970 Crashing during Gameplay

I bought this Gigabyte G1 970 about three months ago and since I got it, it's been crashing (sometimes freezing my computer forcing a restart) but only when i'm playing games. It seems to be completely random when it happens because I watch the sensors on GPU-Z and it's all normal then just crashes. I've sent the card back to Gigabyte for an RMA and they put in a new GPU and I'm still getting issues and now even more than before. Most of the time it's the Nvidia Kernel Drivers crashing and recovering but I've also gotten DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED errors as well as my computer sounds and screen freezing. I tried updating the BIOS and the nvidia drivers, and just about everything else that i've been told to try. I don' t think it's anything with my other components because I tried an EVGA 750ti and it never crashed once.

Here's my full system specs:
CPU - Intel i7 3770
GPU - Gigabyte G1 970
Mobo - AsRock Extreme4 Z77
RAM - 16GB of GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
PSU - CoolerMaster Silent Pro M2 720W (This is what I'm thinking I should look into first)
OS - Windows 10 Pro
(This stuff is most likely irrelevant but i'll include it anyways)
HDD - 2x WD Black 1TB in RAID 0
SSD - Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
Wifi - Realtek card (just a cheap one I don't know the model)

I will also mention that I'm running three 21.5" monitors @ 1920x1080

Hello!

I am confident that the issue is software, which is fortunately easier and usually less expensive then hardware.

I have a few things I would try if I had your issue:

- Try older Nvidia drivers.
- Remove all except 1 ram stick.
- Using a different PCI-E lane.

Hope this helps and good luck!

All of the games I've had crashes with I did a Compatibility Troubleshoot and they all said they were incompatible. I am totally willing to go back to Win 7 if you think that could also solve my issue?

So I looked at more solutions online and as one of those suggested I uninstalled MSI Afterburner and then cleaned my registry with CCleaner. I've only tested with Star Wars TOR but it seems to be working so far. I'll update again once I've tested with more programs. Thank you SubZeroFlash for suggesting that I look at software issues!

No problem :)

Glad you found a possible solution!
