Hi All,

My first post so be gentle please... Currently I have this PC which I purchased some time in 2011:

CPU: Intel I7-2600K / stock cooler / never overclocked
Motherboard: ASRock p67 Extreme 6
RAM: 6GB
GPU: Nvidia GTX 570
PSU: Chieftec 750W
Case: Aerocool VX-9 Pro
http://www.aerocool.us/pgs/pgs-v/pgs_v_vx9pro.htm
Monitor: Samsung 2243lnx SynsMaster
60 GB SSD / 1 TB HDD

I am thinking of doing a partial upgrade & tweaks, so that I can play modern games at 1080p / high settings for the next year or two. Do not have the funds nor will to upgrade my Mobo & CPU at the moment.

So I think the best course of action for me would be to:
1. Upgrade GPU - was thinking of MSI R9 390. I like the 8GB of VRAM and I can get it slightly cheaper than GTX 970.
2. Upgrade RAM to 8 or 16 GB
3. Change the monitor to 24'' or 27'' high frequency IPS panel - do not know which yet...
4. Invest in better cooling and overclock my cpu

Games I like / would like to play are:
- Witcher 3
- X-COM 2
- GTA V
- Deus Ex
- Dying Light
- Metro
- Kingdom Come
- Thief
...

What do you think? I am not very technically minded so am not sure if t will work out the way I intend.

Any help will be appreciated.

Any of the newer EVGAs are excellent. The ones with "2" are made by Super Flower and ones with "S" are made by SeaSonic. These are two of the best manufacturers. 650W is fine. Since we're talking rock-solid PSUs that actually deliver their stated output, you'd probably be fine with a 550. But a lil' headroom is always good.

- The CPU is still absolutely fine.
- The 390 is a fine GPU choice.
- If you're upgrading your PSU -- and actually, even if you're not -- I would think about getting a new Tier 1 or Tier 2 PSU. That PSU is fairly old now and the Chieftecs are quite variable quality.
- Are you using all your RAM? If not, you don't need more. I don't generally recommend upgrading RAM unless you actually need it, simply because RAM sticks not manufactured together have an annoying tendency to frequently not get along.

Thanks for the answers. As far as PSUs are concerned, it was recommended that I should purchase an EVGA Supernowa G2 650W.

Do you think 650 W will be enough? What is the difference between G2 and GS series? Can I buy GS instead of G2?
