BIOS clock runs really fast. HELP!

https://vid.me/yMUM Clock runs 2 sec per 1 sec as seen in video. Every time I sync clock with internet time. It drifts off in a couple minutes. Every boot up, my time is ahead two days. This is a week old built computer with windows 8 pro. Clock has been like this since the beginning and it is getting really annoying. Someone please help.
Specs:
Motherboard - ASRock 970M Pro3
CPU- amd fx6300
16gb ram
Bios version 04.06.05
Windows 8.1 pro

Replacing the CMOS battery shouldn't be necessary on a new motherboard - but it has been known to be required.

The BIOS update is the way to go first. Always possible it's required on a new motherboard. Who knows how long it's been since it was actually made! Quite possible it's sat in storage of a retailer for 6+ months, hence the BIOS is so outdated.

It's really strange, but there are a couple of potential culprits.

The latest BIOS for your board is 1.40 (released today) - so you're quite a few updates behind.

A second option is the CMOS battery (little watch looking battery) on your motherboard on it's way out - it's an easy fix (take the battery out, put a new one in), but should be unlikely it's defective on a new motherboard.

I will try and update BIOS and see if it will fix the issue. But as you said, this shouldn't be happening to a newly purchased motherboard. If the update doesn't fix it, will changing the the CMOS be my last resort?
