how to replace a BIOS on a Linux-Notebook?

It looks like they want you to initiate flashing the bios through the os. However, you want bootable media to do this(eg something that boots into the media and installs the new bios). Or use you bios to access the file from removable media.

Basically, with that exe file, it's not possible. Try to find another file to do it. If HP doesn't have it, try it to find it on insyde's site.
