Device manager: Doesn't show input/output device ; only sound/video/gamecontroller

A few days ago my audio randomly quit working after a bunch of uninstalling and reinstalling(including flashing my bios). I just noticed on the device manager; it no longer shows audio input/output devices but rather just the sound, video, and game controllers tab.

I'm wondering if this is part of my issues with windows saying I have no audio devices? Any thoughts on what this could be, as it's obviously detecting all my items being plugged in as they are showing under the other category.

If you haven't, remove controllers and scan again or try manually specifying appropriate driver (installer, assuming you can find them) for the devices you expect to work?

I wasn't showing an unidentified device or anything after w10 upgrade, but once I ran the proper installer, my bluetooth devices started showing up. Maybe this is something like that?

Yea, I've uninstalled everything; ran ccleaner/driver cleaner then reinstalled everything. After that didn't work I went as far as flashing the bios and updating everything on that end. I've done the deleting / rescanning. After I do that I get 3 inputs for microphones on the sound panel(that will work until I restart) but none for audio inputs.

Which is what's confusing me.

Does sound strange!!!

To confirm this is a Windows problem, can you boot to Ubuntu or something and see if sound works?

I'm not sure if you have a pre-built system or a custom built one, but are you getting the drivers from the hardware manufacturer site (the component manufacturer)? For instance, are you getting the intel drivers from intel, realtek drivers from realtek, etc.?
