Hi All,

I am looking for a new cooling system for my CPU as my current one was a factory given in box with my AMD FX-8350 Black. It currently runs hot and produces a mass amount of noise when in heavy usage e.g games, video rendering and, occaisionally, booting up.

I am looking into something big and effective preferably with LEDs to make my PC look beast.
I did have this one in mind but I am unsure if it would fit my chassis; Thermaltake T81 Urban

Cooler Master V8 GTS CPU Cooler

I dont really want to get liquid cooling as I am worried about damaging parts.

Let me know what you think. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Unmatched Compatibility
Zero RAM Interference

Focusing on providing the widest range of compatibility, the R1 utilizes an asymmetric slanted heatpipe layout to move the front heatsink fin stack further away from the RAM zone. Also, fitted with a 13mm thin XT140 the CRYORIG R1 offers optimal compatibility for RAM with tall heat spreaders on both Intel (115X/1366/775) and AMD platforms.

I currently have 2x 8GB G.Skill TridentX. They are fairly chunky

It looks beast for sure. Its a shame it doesn't have LEDs. I guess they are not really necessary I guess.
Do HSFs come with Thermal Compound applied? If not do you suggest I buy Arctic Silver 5? I have heard that is pretty good.

Also should I invest I a CPU cleaner to wipe of the previous HSFs compound?

Sorry not that experienced with HSFs and compounds. I amm a little rusty on knowledge

Admirable

it comes with thermal paste that you have to apply, thats what i used. you could get a better one, but i dont think it will make much of a difference. to clean it, i just used 91% isopropyl and a paper towel, then polished it with a microfiber cloth for added measures.

as for LEDs, you could always add your own if its that important.

That sounds great. I am going to go for the R1. Should fit with my Tridentx's in there easily. I might just buy a PCIe LED system of some sort if its sensible.

Thanks Tofu

When adding the new HSF should I clean the CPU? Is it necessary to use a cleaning solution or is removing the old compound fine
