Modifying my PC

Hi Guys,
I've been reading posts and comments on this site for a number of weeks gathering information and finally I've created an account to ask a couple of questions.

I am really interested in modifying my PC I bought from a shop here in Oz, that is quite standard. Here's the specs-

AMD A4-7300 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8470D graphics. AMD A78m-E35 motherboard. Codogen 600W PSU. That's about all the info I have on the pre-built PC I own.

After doing some research I've come to a few conclusions that I feel will work ok but I want your opinions!

Here's what I've come up with-

-Seasonic G series 550W PSU (gold rated modular).
-ASUS GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB OC.

I am wanting to do these upgrades to get better performance out of the machine without breaking the bank. I have done a power supply calculator with those specs and it says my machine only requires approx 270w PSU and the GTX is very efficient only requiring 60w.

What do you guys think of this and is there anything at all you can add or any advice to give? I am completely new to the PC scene but am eager to learn. Also I have chosen that GPU based on bang for buck and due to size as its only 8.5" and my case is pretty small this will just fit.

Thanks guys!!

I would highly suggest changing PSUs. The one you have now is trash. The GTX 750 Ti is pretty good. I was able to fit it in a 13 inch long stock prebuilt HP case. You probably will be able to run most games at medium to low at 60. Maybe high if you carefully overclock. Just be careful with that MOBO.
In the long run you should start fresh with a new pc.
You will already have a newer card so you already have a good piece of a new build.

Sorry are you referring to the Codogen 600w PSU? If so yes i am aware it's garbage and was supplied in the pre-built pc i own now to save costs. The PSU i mentioned i'll be purchasing is the Seasonic G Series 550W which i beleive is a very good PSU! Thanks for your reply. I do plan on building my own rig but for the near future i'm keen to tinker with this one until i'm ready for that challenge.

Well at the moment the GPU & PSU will set me back just over $350 AUD delivered. I don't really want to overstep that at the moment considering i'm not going to be going crazy with this build until i build a rig from the case up. Why do you ask?
