So I bought my First 144Hz monitor. Asus VG248QE picked it up brand new for $159 might I add.

So I have 2 gtx 970's in sli. Do you have to get over 144fps in order to use the monitor????

What is the purpose of these monitors????

Please explain this to me I know alot about computers but not displays.

You do not have to get more than 144 fps but that's what you'll need to make the most of the 144hz. I just got mine too, they are great, I've had it one day and 60hz already looks like 30 fps used to. 144hz monitors are used for a smoother experience when you can get more than 60 fps.

In most games that I play I will get at least 60+ thanks for the information. I just wanted make sure I could make use out of the monitor.

In certain games your CPU will be why you can't achieve a constant 144 fps (Certain BF4 maps for example) but you will have a great experience with anything over 60.

I have a 4690 @ 4.4 ghz should that be a issue

I have the same but at 4.5Ghz and some maps (Poorly optimised) will drop your fps, GTA will too in the city but everything else runs at a constant 144 fps for me.
