I have bought a new HDD, Caviar blue 1tb recently. Installed windows 7 32 bit and a few casual games. after a week when i booted it bios post showed up and read ultra dma mode 6 smart capable but command failed. i disabled smart monitoring and it booted up successfully, after a few minutes the pc went into BSOD this trend would go on every time i restart the pc after a few minutes of use. I returned the HDD to the store for a replacement and bought new sata cable and replaced the hdd power cable and still got the same results from the new HDD after a week . Right now i am using a IDE HDD with no problems. what could be the problem ?

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, aero2017!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD HDD. :( However, I'd recommend you to try resolving the issue by resetting BIOS using one of the methods listed here: http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
I'd also go to your computer/motherboard manufacturer's website and make sure you have installed the latest BIOS version for your model. Any outdated SATA controller or chipset drivers could also be causing this. Either way, I'd recommend you to enable SMART for your hard drives from BIOS. Whenever any HDD errors occur, you will get notified by the system.

Have you tried connecting your new HDD to another computer to check its performance there? If not, I'd recommend you to do so. You might also...

Hope this helps. Keep me posted.
