I am getting 'power calibration error' when Nero is writing lead out for HD DVD-DL. Nero support say writer may be at fault.
Should I try to buy IDE or Sata? My mobo has no spare Sata slot but I have a PCI (NOT Express) board with a Sata slot. Any point in trying Bluray/DVD writer?

That error is one of 2 things the disks your using may be bad slow down your write speeds to say 8x or try another brand or the drive is failing .. If you have a sata port yes by all means get A sata drive... Better read and write speeds.
