I have an i7 4770 in a bitfenix comrade case that has two intake fans and one exhaust fan. My cooler is a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo and at idle my cpu sits around the mid 40s and at load while playing bf4 it sits at 57c which is good. How come my idle temp is a bit high but load temp is great?. I live in Australia so ambient room temp is around 29c. If I turn on my A/C it goes down to 37. Is there anyway I can get it to idle at a lower temp?. If I take my side cover off it lowers by 2 degrees but then i can hear fan noise and dust will get in. I have my case fans on full speed all the time and cpu on normal speed setting. Even putting it on performance mode which make its go faster the temp does not change. So any ideas?

Solution
It may merely be a function of your ambient temperature. Coolers cannot cool to below some margin over the ambient temperature.. It seems from your experiment with air conditioning that the CPU temperature responds to a change in ambient. It also responds well in not increasing when under load.

ON that basis I'd say that you are good to go. No temperature is out of bounds and your cooling keeps it there. I see no need to worry or to make attempts to reduce idling temperature.

Those temps are fine, I wouldn't make any adjustments cr80442.

@Onefurrybanana - 10 degrees above ambient temps eh? That maybe true for poor flowing cases, but with the right setup CPU/GPU temps at idle can be equal to or 1 degree above ambient temp. My computer idles @ 20c (68f) ambient temps @ 18.9c (66f)
