CPU overheat throttling

Okay so... I've gone through alot with my last computer, I've written 2-3 posts on this forum and the last one saved my life, until yesterday. I'll tell the whole problem once again tho.

I've bought this computer a year ago, first 2 months were all good but then the problems started. After running a game (particular games, not every game) for a long time, FPS would drop down from 60 to 15-20, and after all the posting and searching I figured out it's a CPU problem, an overheating problem. So, on the third post someone told me to buy a secondary case fan and so I did, I bought a 120mm fan and put it on the rear of my case, and after that, everything went good, CPU wouldn't throttle anymore and I could play happily. Until yesterday tho. For some reason, my computer decided to start the throttle once again and I really don't know why.

I've read about BIOS options like cool 'n' quiet, CPU thermal throttling and such so I started to change those values/options (this happened today). Google told me that I should disable thermal throttling and so I did, it told me to disable CnQ and so I did but nothing really helps. Some said to me that the VRMs are too hot and they need a heatsink, so I really don't know at this point.

I'll put up a link to an image showing the CPU frequency min/max and the temperatures min/max (HW Monitor)

By the way, I really don't wanna spend a lot of money on this, cause I'll probably get a momentary job in the next months, and I decided to build a new PC with the money I could get.

Might I ask what CPU cooler you're using? The most effective way of dealing with a CPU throttling issue is to buy a better heatsink. I'd recommend the cooler master Hyper 212, as you can move it to the new computer you'll buy soon. Keep me posted.

I've seen a lot saying to disable it, by the way I re-enabled it to test if it would fix the problem or not, and the current value is 87% if I'm right, yesterday was 50%. Chronogically it was 50%, then 12%, then I disabled it, and today is 87%

Your computer was OK when new, so you DO NOT need to change the spec or the setup. Instead something needs fixing.
The most obvious is to check your fan is working properly on your CPU cooler.
If the fan is OK, it is almost certainly the thermal paste on the cooler.... so, buy some new thermal paste (for $5 or less) remove the cooler, clean all the dust off, clean off the old paste, reapply new paste (you tube has videos showing how) and refix your cooler.
This should fix all your problems

The stock cooler doesn't do the best job of cooling and the thermal grease might be crappy. Sometimes changing the thermal paste can help quite a bit. However a good aftermarket cooler with decent thermal grease will keep the cpu much much cooler.

I sent the computer to the local PC shop and they've changed the termal paste already, this happened around 3 months ago but I still had the downclock problem. Fans would do a lot less noise but still the problem wasn't fixed so i'm pretty sure that's not the problem...

Some said it might be VRMs heating up, as well? I have no heatsinks installed on them as far as I know (didn't even know what VRM was before yesterday)

You might be able to have your cpu fan spin faster to keep the cpu cooler.. I know many BIOS's try to keep the fans spinning as slow as possible which is not the best for cooling. What is your motherboard model and BIOS version? Certain motherboards have had issues with the FX line of cpus because of poor design.

ASRock 960GM-VGS3 FX as for the mobo, version's pretty sure is the basic one since I don't even know how tu update it.. Anyway, I'm able to change spinning speed and I did it, now it's on "level 7"? And by the way, yesterday I cleaned my pc and saw there was a LOT of dust in it, I played for around 2 hours and that didn't happen anymore... But I'll keep the post updated in case it happens again, since my computer is unpredictable :V

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's temporary as well... But if cleaning it once in a while fixes the problem temporarily, I'll just do this until I get a brand new computer. Thanks to everyone for the time and explainations!
