Crossfire lower-tier cards, or buy higher tier new card?

Hey, so I'm pretty much a beginner at PC building and certainly at components. I built my PC back in 2013, and I am currently running a single XFX Double D Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition card, which is no longer made and I can only find it on amazon for about $200.

It seems stupid to buy another one at that price, being that it'll be phased out soon enough. So my question for you guys is: How should I proceed?
- Should I buy another 7870 GHz?
- Should I buy something like (two) AMD R9 270's? or
- Should I just buy one good card?

I'm trying not to spend more than $200, but I guess I could stretch up to $250. I know I'm limiting myself, but I'm a cheap boy.
Thanks for every and any suggestion!!

Solution
avoid the crossfire hassle. Sell the 7870 and grab a R9 380X in your budget

For your reference, the 7870 is around the speed of the R9 370 (roughly)

Thank you very much for your information! And did you mean R7 370? Or did you mean R9?
Also: once again I'm new, so, how would you suggest I offload my 7870?

Buy a new good graphics card like R9 380. Don't bother with Crossfire. For Crossfire, you will need a better PSU to handle the Crossfire configuration. If you only play at 1920x1080, buy only a new good graphics card.
PS: That graphics card has 3 GB, R9 380 has 4 GB + is DirectX 11 and R9 380 is DirectX 12 ready.

Yep that's a good card also, the 380x has the more modern architecture but the 280x still performs well.

If you could extend your budget then something like the r9 390 or GTX 970 would give you a much more significant performance boost over your current 7870.
