I have a Sony Vaio VPCF22M0E laptop which uses SATA 1. If I buy an SSD, will the performance be limited by this?

Hi,

So I own a old 2010 Sony Vaio Laptop and was thinking of swapping the DVD for a caddy to put my SSD on. This laptop only has SATA 1 and the SSD I was going to get was the 500GB Samsung 850 EVO, so would the read and write speeds get affected?

Thanks,
Fraser

Solution
The Samsung 850 Evo is SATA III but on your laptop it will be limited to SATA I performance. However, since it's an SSD it will still easily outperform any HDD.
