When will the price of Intel 6700K again come down to $350

It has been over 4 months since the release of Intel's Skylake 6700K, but the price is rising day by day, so do anyone have any idea when the price will be back to normal again. Eagerly waiting for, to buy it.

Solution
Probably once the AMD Zen stuff is released this year. AMD will be competitive price wise forcing Intel to drop their prices. Until then Intel has a monopoly on DDR 4 platforms.

The prices will drop when Intel has the yields to meet supplier demands (it's been suggested that Intel is having trouble filling wholesaler's orders, hence the increase in price on the consumer end), or when supplier demand drops, meaning the majority of suppliers have more than enough CPUs in stock.

It is fairly unlikely that the release of Zen will seriously affect Intel pricing, since the price increases aren't due to Intel suggesting higher prices.

Whenever the shortage of them ends, if it ever does. The prices are high because retailers are price gouging due to the shortage of that particular processor, you have to pay a hefty premium to get one. This is only going to stop when the supply of these chips starts to exceed demand, or AMD starts putting out a better product that tanks demand for the 6700k. I'd bet on supply increasing before AMD releases a better product, given the fact that Zen won't be launching until pretty late this year.

I picked mine up for $320 from my local microcenter in November . They are now selling it for $400. I have heard that some sort of fire or disruption in distribution is the cause of this price increase, although I can't validate whether this caused the price hike. I do know that an intel plant in Chandler did have a fire in late October. Also, many companies raise computer part prices right before Christmas for a few weeks. I would give it a few weeks and we will likely see a price drop, but whether or not that dips below $350 will probably depend on supply and demand.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any idea when AMD is planning to release their ZEN architecture?? If it is Q1 2016, then I will go with AMD ZEN

Q4 2016 is the projected date for Zen's launch. The only thing that might be coming out before then are the Excavator based APUs, that may be launching with early AM4 motherboards to act as a stop gap measure until Zen is ready.

I don't think the prices are going to come back down to that level for a long long time. Now that Z170 motherboards have the ability to overclock the locked processors, the price on them is creeping up. Currently, the i7 6700 goes for $349.99 on Newegg. Intel not going to drop the price of their K chips below the non enthusiast processors. If this is your price point, I would just get the 6700 and overclock it, performance will be the same when overclocked to the same levels.

Also as previously stated. Supply and demand affect pricing. Also Intel has never been too keen on reducing pricing to compete with AMD. But my gut feeling says late 2016 for ZEN before we start seeing some price changes.

Thanks mate! Hope that Intel will increase the production rate to meet the demand. :)

Okay.

We don't really know what's going on that's causing the shortage, but the most common theory is Intel is having issues with their 14nm process, and is having a hard time getting high quality chips that can run at 4GHz out of the box with hyperthreading enabled, and that's why the 6700k is having a shortage. It's possible the 6700k may always be in short supply and we'll have to hope they've ironed things out once the Skylake Refresh chips launch later this year.

Then I will stick to Intel, and wait for few days more. :(
Thank you again.

Yeah exactly!! I also read an article where Intel told that the production cost of 14nm is more than 22nm (Haswell)

This is exactly what I am thinking as well. I also think that this may be pre and post Christmas effect, and it will be resolved soon. Lets hope for the best and I also get the CPU at price of yours. :p :)
