HELP!: New psu plugging into GTX 970 not working

Hi

I have just got an evga 550 g2 and me and my dad have found that we can't get it to power the graphics card through either of its vga1 or vga2 slots in the psu (cables can be unplugged from psu) I can see the bios when the card is out. So PC loads fine.

We have tested the old psu to see if the card had died and the card ran fine with the old psu which is a cx 500.

Why is the evga not powering my card. I hav plugged the pcie cables in when testing both psu.

Are we doing something wrong or are the vga ports dead on the evga

Hi I looked online and I. Saw a guy plugg the power into the card and then put a pcie cable into the motherboard.

I can't! see a six pin on my board.

This psu is comapitble with my board right

you don't plug the 6pin between the mobo and the GPU. It goes between the card and the PSU.

The PSU is modular and the motherboard cable that goes into the PSU splits into two connecters that plug into two motherboard slots that can be seen on the modular PSU, for some reason one wasn't clicking in and my dad had to use his very strong hands (he does manufacturing) to click the smaller split of the cable in. Its like a 24pin + 12 pin connector on one cable then at the end of this cable is the big connector that's goes into the motherboard which actually clicks in compared to my CX one which didn't click in but worked.

So the EVGA G2 550 works and I have it on ECO mode so it is dead quite while browsing the web and using explorer. Even when I'm playing Fallout 4 I can't hear it, all I hear now is the very slight up of my CPU stock fan.

Now all I need is this SSD to come in the post so I can install win7 on it so my pc is a lot faster running windows 7, apparently its like having another CPU in your system from what I have heard from friends and family.

Ye I have got the SSD and got windows 7 on it but it took 3 days afternoons just to get it installed the, drivers, updates and create backups so I don't have to do it all over again.

But ye the SSD helps a lot, chrome is super quick loading and so is spotify, hearthstone and I'm putting one game on its....Fallout 4.
