Solution
Below the start button there is a block called "run" in the box type "regedit" and press enter.

HKLM = HKEY LOCAL MACHINE.......click on the left of it to open the drop down menu.

Now click on "SYSTEM", next click on ControlSet001....then click Controlset001.........next click SafeBoot etc until you reach option value setting.

Now on your right of the screen you will 2, change it to 0.

I have an old fujitsu-siemens laptop that has realtek sound card and had the same issue the following fix worked for me:

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SafeBoot\Option OptionValue setting from 2 to 0.....reboot.

Back up registry entry before applying fix.
