I have an Asus Z97-A mobo with a 4690k cpu. I noticed if I hit defaults in BIOs it sets my base clock to 125 instead of 100. I'm pretty sure this isnt right, right?

Solution

Can you set it to 100?

Yeah I can manually set it and it works fine, just seems like something is wrong if its setting the default to that.

Update: I figured out my motherboard has a switch that says tpu1-3. I read it's a built in "optimizer". Mine was set to TPU 2. I switched it off and set bios to defaults and now everything is peachy. Just thought I would update in case anyone comes across this thread with the same issue.
