Does the H110M-HDV/D3 Support DDR4 Memory?

When I purchased the motherboard I was told it supported both DDR3 and DDR4 memory, although within the manual it says it only supports DDR3/DDR3L memory, but the ASrock's website with the specs regarding the motherboard only says DDR4. Also wondering about memory speed restrictions, if DDR4 RAM is supported can the motherboard only take so much speed? Thoroughly confused, would love a professional to clarify my concerns.

Cheers!

Tough call, is the mobo within the return period? With your CPU you should be able to run 1866 with 2x8GB of DDR3 which will be better than your current 8GB 1333. While better, it sort of under running your hardware as the CPU is capable of 2133 DDR4 and up.

Options I'd go in order

A) If returnable I'd swap out the mobo for a DDR4 mobo
B) If not, I'd run it till I had enough money for a DDR4 mobo and DDR4 DRAM (or close) and sell it
C) If neither of the above two are workable get the 16GB of DDR3 and live with it

I know none are really 'good' choices, but think honesty is best

Appreciate the replies guys.

Another quick question, is there a huge difference in performance between DDR3/DDR4 memory? For example, i currently have 1333mhz x1 8gb stick of G.Skill memory, I originally was looking for DDR4 as an optional upgrade, most likely 16gb of 2400mhz, but since that isn't exactly fully on the table at this time, would 16gb DDR3 be a viable alternative? Obviously at a higher speed.

And if it helps,

GPU - GTX 970
CPU - i5-6400

Appreciate the the thorough answer. I was considering trying to return the motherboard, if not I'll sell the motherboard and buy a new one, if I were to buy one, which one should I consider? Good price with decent performance would be my closest option. I did see the B150M-Pro4, which is a decent price point for me being $139 AUD (Since i'm in Australia). Supports up to x4 2133mhz DDR4 memory, or should I consider investing into a more expensive model?

Appreciate all the fantastic replies, it's great!

Hey guys!

Just a quick update as requested.

Recently purchased myself a ASRock Fatal1ty H170 Performance & 16gb of Corsair Vengence DDR4 2133. Also upgraded my outdated PSU which was practically about to hang itself, replaced that with a EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Gold 750W Power Supply.

Really happy with my setup now, works fantastically! Once again I really appreciate the information you guy's provided, it helped my decision making a lot easier in the long run!

Cheers!
