New PC stutters on almost every game

I decided to get build a PC for the first time. Everything seemed to be going fine until I actually tried to start playing games.

On games like GTA V, CS:GO, and even Minecraft my game stutters every few seconds (in GTA V the audio cracks too) making the games unplayable. The only playable game I can find is osu! which isn't that demanding.

I've tried multiple times to reinstall my GPU drivers using the clean install option and using Geforce experience but nothing seems to help.

My components are:

Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Asus GeForce GTX 960 Strix 2GB Video Card
Deepcool TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case
EVGA 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

If anyone could help with my situation that would be great.

Your CPU and GPU temps are way too high for idle. Your CPU is probably causing the stuttering in games.

What cooler are you using on it currently and what case fans do you have? You might want to get an aftermarket cooler if you don't have one, and maybe some extra case fans.

Would suggest to download.

Valley Benchmark (To test the GPU)
And then, try google GTX 960 Valley Benchmark Score.
You should compare yours to them, if yours is way lower than the "Actual" score.

It might be GPU problem.

Thanks for the reply, some of the pre-applied thermal paste was wiped off when it was in the box so I would expect that to possible be the problem. I'll buy some paste and reapply it. Do you think my cpu has received and major damage? I've only been using it for 2 days but haven't been playing any games on it really.

It shouldn't be damaged if you've only used it for 2 days.

I added new thermal paste and a case fan. CS:GO and GTA V are doing fine now. The avg temps are still kinda high but still much lower than before. At idle its at 45 and during gaming its goes around 83. My thanks for helping me out, I really appreciate it.

That's good to hear, just keep an eye on those temps and if it gets any hotter make sure to contact the forums or do something about it.

EDIT: If you only have one case fan then try and keep it in exhaust at the rear or top. This is the best setup for one case fan.
