Guides and search couldn't help me guess my real CPU temp.

Hello everyone.

TL;DR:
I read a guide on AMD CPUs and APUs temp in this page, max operative temp of my processor is 74ºC acccoring to AMD. At Idle the Thermal Margin says 70ºC,the room is around 20ºC.At Load says 43ºC Thermal Margin. HWMonitor and BIOS claims temps to be 44ºC at Idle and 74ºC-84ªC at load, sum up thermal margin and.. could I run my CPU at +110ºC? Don't think so.

Long version: I have an A10 6800K as CPU and had an stock AMD cooler. My story begins when monitoring temps with HWMonitor and Speccy I found CPU reached 94ºC underload and sometimes it was higher than 60ªC at Idle ( HWMonitor told me 164ºC for just one second, thought it was a bug). Found some info: stock AMD coolers sucks.
So I decided to buy CM hyper evo 212, temps decreased, averages 74ºC at load, max 84ºC and 44ºC at Idle(BIOS claims temps to be around 44ºC too at Idle). BUT I've also found AMD Overdrive and this guide
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2122665/understanding-temperature-amd-cpus-apus.html
The thermal margin at Idle is always 70ºC, does not reach 70,1ºC so I guess 70ºC is the limit of the math formula. AMD webpage claims max temp to be 74ªC, with a thermal margin of 70ºC does that mean the CPU is at 4ªC? impossible since the room thermostate is at 20ºC.
So I decided to just touch the heatsink, put my finger the closes I could to the CPU. Feels warm to the hand at idle, just for comparison, wouldn't take a shower at that temp. At load it still feels warm but hotter, comfortable shower at that temp although I shower myself with hotter water.
Then I wondered if I just applied too much thermal paste and heat was not being transfered properly.

I had a don't-know-if-stupid-idea:, run the CPU without a cooler and track temps and thermal margin till PC shuts down so I can really know what is the MAX temp(showed in software) and when I'm at a safe temp. Is it a bad idea?

Thanks for reading.

Your temps look fine. I had to work on a few APU based AMD systems and discovered the same things. My usual temp programs said temps were burning hot, yet heatsink was barely warm, and no signs of throttling, ect. After some research, like you, I discovered this "Thermal Margin" info. Thermal Margin in AMD Overdrive is the only software that seems to read correctly. Speccy, ect. are all wrong. For an example, if your getting 43C under load, that means your temp can increase another 43C until throttling/shutdown. A temperature of 70C idle is fine. You have to think of readings for these CPUs as being the opposite of the norm.

Also, I wouldn't recommend running w/ no cooler. It's likely that your system will throttle and...

Also, I wouldn't recommend running w/ no cooler. It's likely that your system will throttle and shutdown to protect itself before booting into the OS. Doesn't take long for this to happen.
