2 week old pc freezes when running games

I have an amd fx 835o, gtx 970, 16 gb of ram, corsair rm 750and msi 970 gaming mobo. the computer boots and runs 2d apps fine, but when i start playing 3d games (accually running the game, not just in the menu) the computer freezes up, and the only way to stop it is to do a hard restart. this was happening before, but only on a specific game so i took it for granted.

Try test your GPU with
"Valley Benchmark"

Try test your RAM with
"Memtest"

Also download a utility to monitor temps. Hwmonitor is decent. What are your cpu and gpu temps like?

I have done all this, and used stress cpu in cpu-z so i dont think its the cpu. and my memory is fine since i ran memtest already. i dont think i can run valley bench mark since my crashes with any 3d app

I just noticed that something sounded like it was scratcing against something.
also, i noticed my 8 pin cpu was a little loose, so that may be the culprit.

swiched the pci slots on my mobo and that fixed it, and i think my gpu or mobo s now giving me coil whine

Wait. now the computer freezes after a few minutes of gameplay, so not fixed.
